Your screen time is yours.

1. Who we are

Wingman Focus ("Wingman", "we", "us") is a screen-time accountability service. It has three parts: an iPhone app, a Mac app, and an AI accountability partner you talk to over iMessage. This policy covers all three.

Wingman is free to start. Wingman Ultra is an optional paid subscription. We do not receive or store your card details: purchases are handled by Apple (in-app purchase) or Stripe, and we only ever see whether your subscription is active and when it renews.

2. What we collect

Your phone number

Your phone number is your account. It's how Wingman texts you and how we recognise you across your devices. We don't ask for a password, an email address, or a social login.

What you tell Wingman

Whatever you share in conversation: your name, what you do, the goals and struggles you describe, the tasks you commit to, and your day plans. We store your message history so Wingman can remember context instead of asking you the same things every morning.

Screen time and activity

This is the heart of the product, and it works differently on each platform. Section 3 covers it in full.

Your calendar — only if you connect it

Connecting Google Calendar is optional, and we request read-only access. We look at event titles and times so Wingman knows not to interrupt you during a lecture or an interview. We can't create, edit, or delete anything in your calendar, and we don't touch your Gmail or other Google data. You can disconnect at any time.

Photos you choose to send

If you unlock a focus session by showing proof of work, the photo you submit is reviewed to check it matches the task you committed to. We only ever receive images you deliberately submit — Wingman has no access to your camera roll.

Basic device and technical data

Your time zone (so nudges land at sensible hours), a notification token so we can reach your device, and which permissions you've granted. Our servers also keep short-lived operational logs to keep the service running and debug failures.

3. Screen time: iPhone vs Mac

People assume a screen-time app sees everything on every device. That isn't true here, and the difference between platforms is significant enough that it deserves its own section.

The reason is Apple. On iPhone, Apple provides a dedicated Screen Time system that is deliberately built so apps like ours can't see what they're blocking. macOS has no equivalent, so the Mac app has to observe your activity directly. We've designed the Mac side to keep as much as possible on your machine.

What we do keep on our servers

So the picture is complete: we do store your lists and settings — the apps, categories, and websites you've asked Wingman to watch, block, or treat as productive, along with a short description and a distraction rating for each. On Mac we also keep a list of installed applications so Wingman can offer sensible choices, plus running totals of time per app or site.

The distinction that matters: we hold the rules you set and summary figures, not a replayable log of your day.

5. How we use your data

We use what we collect to run the product you asked for, and for nothing else:

• To decide whether and when to say something — the core of the product. A nudge should arrive when you're drifting, not while you're in a meeting.
• To enforce the limits you set, including blocking apps and sites during focus sessions.
• To plan your day and track the tasks and streaks you commit to.
• To hold context so conversations pick up where they left off.
• To keep the service working — diagnosing failures, preventing abuse, and rate-limiting.

We do not sell your data, rent it, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it to build profiles for anyone other than you.

6. AI and your conversations

Wingman's accountability partner is powered by a third-party AI provider. To generate a reply, we send the context needed for that reply: your conversation, the goals and profile details you've shared, relevant activity summaries, your tasks, calendar event titles when connected, and any proof-of-work photo you submit.

Our provider processes this on our behalf under their business terms, and stores conversation context so Wingman can hold a coherent thread rather than restarting every message. Your conversations are not used to train their models.

Wingman's judgements are automated and imperfect. It is a productivity aid, not medical, psychological, or professional advice.

7. Who else touches your data

We keep the list of companies involved as short as we can. Each is a service provider handling data on our behalf, not a party we sell to.

We may also disclose data if legally required, or to protect the safety and rights of our users. If Wingman is ever acquired or transferred, we'll tell you before your data moves under a different policy.

8. Security & storage

Your data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure in the United States, encrypted in transit and at rest. If you're outside the US, using Wingman means your data is processed there.

Your private data — your conversations, profile, and screen-time settings — is scoped so that only your own account can read it. Other users cannot reach it. Where a feature is shared by design, such as pairing with an accountability partner, that person sees only what the feature requires.

No system is perfectly secure, and we won't pretend otherwise. If you believe you've found a vulnerability, please report it to us using the contact below and we'll act on it.

9. Your choices

Opt out and delete everything

You can opt out at any time — from the app, or by telling Wingman in the chat. Opting out deletes your account and the data tied to it: your conversation history, profile and goals, plans and tasks, screen-time lists and settings, and your phone number. Wingman stops texting you. This is permanent and can't be undone.

Turn things off without leaving

• Disconnect your calendar in settings — Wingman keeps working with less context.
• Revoke permissions in iOS or macOS system settings. Monitoring degrades gracefully; it never routes around a permission you've withdrawn.
• Delete the Mac app to stop desktop monitoring entirely.
• Edit your lists at any time to change what Wingman watches.

Use Wingman without an account

You can run solo focus sessions as a guest, with no account at all. In guest mode your sessions and reports stay on your device and nothing is stored on our servers.

Access and correction

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights over your personal data — including access, correction, deletion, portability, and objecting to certain processing. Contact us and we'll honour them. We won't treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.

10. How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active, because Wingman's usefulness depends on remembering your history. When you opt out or delete your account, we remove it from our systems.

Some things clear sooner on their own: verification codes expire within minutes, and if you text Wingman without ever creating an account, we hold that conversation only briefly before discarding it.

Two honest caveats. Short-lived operational logs may briefly outlive deletion before they age out. And conversation context held by our AI provider is deleted according to their retention schedule rather than instantly.

11. Children

Wingman is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it. Wingman is designed for people choosing accountability for themselves — it is not a parental-monitoring tool, and it doesn't report your activity to anyone else.

12. Changes to this policy

Wingman is in active development, so this policy will change. When we make a material change — particularly anything that widens what we collect — we'll update the date at the top and notify you in the app or over iMessage before it takes effect. Continuing to use Wingman after that means you accept the updated policy.
